JFS Orlando and Social Bridges Partner to Provide Accessible Counseling

JFS Orlando and Social Bridges

Jewish Family Services of Greater Orlando (JFS Orlando) and Social Bridges® will be partnering to offer accessible, peer-based, social-emotional skill groups to local students.

Social Bridges is a CASEL-aligned, evidence-driven program that fosters the social skills and emotional intelligence (EQ) that are critical for children and young adults to reach their full potential. By partnering together, JFS Orlando and Social Bridges will be able to provide this program to those who might not have access to it otherwise. Starting in September, trained JFS therapists will begin meeting virtually with student pilot groups from local schools, including PACE Center for Girls.

“We are looking forward to this new partnership with Social Bridges,” says JFS Clinical Director, Ashlyn Douglass-Barnes. “This program will help allow access to social and emotional learning skills to those who need it most.”

These trauma informed, social-emotional skill groups are especially beneficial for individuals who have diagnoses of ADHD, gifted or twice exceptional, ASD, anxiety disorders, and learning differences and/or have experienced trauma. The program is currently accepting new clients from elementary to high school for the Fall 2021 semester. Only Medicaid and Medicaid HMOs accepted, including Staywell, Simply, Aetna Better Health, Humana, UHC, and Sunshine.
