It's Hot Outside...Help a Low-Income Senior or Disabled Adult with a RIDE!
Waiting for a bus to go to the doctor in this sweltering heat really takes a toll on a person.
Now imagine the impact on the elderly & disabled in our community.
Countless seniors and disabled adults do not have the physical ability to drive, the financial means to own a vehicle, or use a ride-share service.
Even worse, many are alone with no family to drive them to their important appointments.
Missing these appointments has a negative effect on the health & welfare of those most vulnerable in our community.
JFS Orlando’s RIDE (Reliable Independent Drivers for the Elderly) program provides free rides for qualifying, low-income seniors and disabled adults in Orange and Seminole County. Eligible individuals can receive 2 round trip rides each month in a licensed & insured taxi to:
- MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS
- FOOD APPOINTMENTS
- FINANCIAL APPOINTMENTS
- LEGAL APPOINTMENTS
But the number of those in need of rides also continues to grow.
Last year JFS Orlando’s RIDE program provided over 750 rides…
and this year we are on pace to almost DOUBLE the number of rides!!
