With Temps and Costs on the Rise, Help a Low-Income Senior with a RIDE!

Did you know many vulnerable people in our community wait for the bus in sweltering heat & summer rainstorms for doctor’s appointments?

Florida’s summer weather can take a toll on anyone–imagine the impact it has on seniors & disabled adults.
As our aging population grows, transportation costs continue to rise, making rides less accessible than ever for low-income seniors & disabled adults. These members of our community need our support because they:
- Do not have the physical ability to drive
- Lack the financial means to own a vehicle
- Cannot afford to rely on ride-sharing services
Many seniors & disabled adults in Central Florida are alone with no friends or family to lean on for transportation.
This means missed appointments and limited access to essential food & medication, which makes them even more vulnerable & negatively impacts their wellbeing.
JFS Orlando’s RIDE (Reliable Independent Drivers for the Elderly) program provides free rides for qualifying, low-income seniors & disabled adults in Orange & Seminole Counties. With your help, we can continue to provide eligible individuals with 2 round-trip rides a month to:
- Medical Appointments
- Grocery Stores & Pharmacies
- Other Essential Appointments & Trips
Last year the RIDE program provided over 520 rides last year. With the increased need & funding challenges, we now have a substantial waitlist for our services.
Help us clear the waitlist today!
Each ride costs about $100 for a round trip in a licensed & insured taxi. With recent cuts in grant funding, we need your help to keep providing rides to seniors & disabled adults. Your donation can help us continue to make these rides possible & improve the lives of some of our most vulnerable community members.
Join JFS Orlando’s efforts to bridge the transportation gap in our community!
